New! World War I Style Cavalry Officer Braided Campaign Hat Cord. One size cords available in a gold/black twisted braid. The hat cords of this era varied in style, and are also sometimes referred to as hobbles, hat bands, hat braids, hat straps, or acorns.

Many of the original cords were made of "mercurized cotton", which came out during WWI both as issue and private purchase cords. This provided a slight shine to the appearance and saved wool for uniforms. When hat cord regulations changed in 1921, they went to mostly mercurized cotton, which allowed the cords to wear better.
