Quick Overview

The frontier soldiers always had a bandana, scarf, neckerchief, handkerchief, or hankey! It kept the dust off while riding the trail. Also, they would wet the rag and put it on their head under their slouch hats to keep cool. The scarves prevented sunburn, served as a bandage or tourniquet, and even worked as a field-expedient coffee filter!

In typical Cavalry fashion, Colonel Teddy Roosevelt and his regiment of Rough Riders were known for wearing unauthorized items of clothing and incorrect insignia. Their choice of uniform was not questioned on the battlefield where their heroic actions earned them a reputation that lives on today. In short, a scarf was not an accoutrement, but a necessity in the field or on a campaign, and rarely if ever seen worn in garrison.

These 100% cotton bandanas have the iconic red paisley design, measure 22" x 22" with a hemmed stitched edge and they're machine washable to get the grit out after a rough ride, drive, flight, or tour. They look great with a Stetson, but then again, what doesn't? If you're looking for a more formal look like an ascot or bib for a parade or ceremony, we have them available also in either yellow or red/white.
